My name is Ashley, and I have perfected the art of the eye roll. That’s me to the left being my usual crazy self. I’m a SoCal gal, born and raised. I’m in event marketing, which, some might say, is perfect for me as I am a true consumer at heart. I love to travel; one of my favorite things to do is to get lost in a new city and see what I stumble upon. Liz and I have a lot in common; we love a good cocktail, love to dance, and love to be social butterflies.
Until I met “Spike,” I really didn’t know much about the nerd world. The word would bring to mind images of Steve Urkel asking if anyone had any cheese. Then I met “Spike,” who, despite being incredibly sweet and caring, has caused my eyes to roll so often that I’m pretty sure I can now see my own brain. A proud nerd, his room is literally overflowing with science fiction and fantasy novels. If Patrick Stewart is on TV for any reason, all conversations must cease so that “Spike” can worship his favorite bald Captain. I’m pretty sure I saw my brain just now.
My man friend actually chose “Spike” as his pseudonym because he is, unfortunately, a “Brony.” For the blissfully unaware, let’s turn to the urban dictionary for the definition:
A name typically given to the male viewers/fans (whether they are straight, gay, bisexual, etc.) of the My Little Pony show or franchise. They typically do not give in to the hype that males aren’t allowed to enjoy things that may be intended for females.
