Back from a weekend in Vegas and couldn’t post until I dealt with a tricky “Hangover” type wedding situation but now that I’ve ditched the male stripper it’s back to posting for We Date Nerds!
I’m going to keep it short today, but I do need the readers help. I can’t put off the inevitable any longer, I’m going to have to suck it up and read a comic book to appease Cyclops. He brings it up every time we talk and I’m running out of excuses, so I’ve decided that if I read at least one book that he has given me it should give me brownie points for at least 6 months.
This is where you, the reader, comes in. I’m hoping some of you are avid comic book readers or are girlfriends that have been in the same situation. Or you can help me pick purely based on the cover.
Here are my choices based on no prior knowledge or research (don’t want to ruin any stories):
Saga: Chapter One // Brian K. Vaughan & Fiona Staples
Cover: I see a man with ram like features and a sword with a woman holding a gun that has wings and is breastfeeding a baby with tiny horns.
Initial Reactions Based on Cover: How could you not want to read that?
Batwoman: Elegy // Greg Rucka & J.H. Williams III
Cover: Two girls with crazy eyes. One that looks like a demonic bird and the other like a scary little girl/geisha.
Initial Reactions Based On Cover: This might give me nightmares, I HATE birds (especially pigeons) and creepy children. Anyone see that creepy kid episode of PLL? Did not care for it.
Batgirl: Year One // Scotts Beatty, Chuck Dixon, Marcos Martin, Alvaro Lopez
Cover: Batgirl flying through the air in a wave of psychedelic colors.
Initial Reactions Based On Cover: Batgirl as opposed to Batwoman looks very happy, maybe she’s thinking “Yay, I’m Batgirl!”. Actually she looks like she might be at the boot camp I attend doing this damn high skipping thing they make us do.
So there you have it, my options. Readers I will leave it up to you to decide my fate. Remember you will probably have to read my review on whatever is chosen.
