It’s Official: Final Hunger Games Movies Can Now Happen!

Since the departure of the director / screenwriter of the first Hunger Games installment got fired, there has been a lot of ups and downs when it comes to bringing on writers and directors to take on the final 3 films. Up until now no screenwriter had been identified to pen, Mockingjay the 2-part final film, well the odds are now in our favor of those movies being awesome because Danny Strong, recent Emmy winner has just signed on to write both films. Don’t know who Danny Strong is? Get on board the Danny Strong train because I have a feeling his career is about to skyrocket! (and yes I realize those metaphors don’t really mesh)

For those of you who don’t know, Danny Strong has a long history in TV and film. Recently he has come onto the scene as an amazing screenwriter. In 2008 he was nominated for the HBO movie Recount and just won an Emmy for Outstanding Writing for a Miniseries, Movie or a Dramatic Special for HBO’s The Game Change, which I’m dying to see!

But for me Danny Strong will always be in my heart as Jonathan from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, the nerd that was constantly bullied and tormented but never seemed to die even after being involved in multiple demon attacks and other crazy shenanigans.

UPDATE: Thanks to one of our loyal readers and our only commenter we are adding a seriously overlooked credit to Danny Strong’s bio. He also played the lovable Doyle on Gilmore Girls, aka Paris Gellar’s boyfriend. Can’t believe we missed a Gilmore Girls reference.

I don’t know about you but I’m excited to see what Danny has in store for our favorite Hunger Games characters.
