It’s with a heavy heart that I write this, when I heard about Carrie Fisher’s heart attack a few days ago, I was crushed, almost moved to tears in my car. As we all know 2016 has taken some greats, but Star Wars is such an important part of my childhood, especially Princess Leia.

I’m not saying that Princess Leia was all Carrie Fisher ever did, she did great things after the movies ended but for me that’s who she will always be.

She embodied a character that could have been the “damsel in distress” but her snark, wit and take no shit from anyone attitude helped create a hero that everyone, especially little girls could look up to….in fact I loved her so much I was Princess Leia for Halloween at two phases in my life, as a kid and as an adult (and back then Star Wars was not cool).

But now we have to say goodbye, my thoughts and prayers go out to her family and of course from myself and all the little Princess Leias out there, “May the Force Be With You”.
